China unveils a 'land aircraft carrier' equipped with a flying car in its cargo bay
The Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier system consists of an electric carrier van and an unmanned flying car. Production of the “land-based aircraft carrier” is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Xpeng has unveiled a modular flying car in China. It will make its first flight in November, after which pre-sales of the system will begin at a price of approximately 2 million yuan ($280,000). This was reported by the website CarNewsChina.

Xpeng calls its project the “Land Aircraft Carrier.” It consists of the flying car itself and a carrier vehicle capable of transporting it.
This carrier is a three-axle van measuring 5.5 meters long and 2 meters wide. With its boxy design, it bears some resemblance to the Tesla Cybertruck.

The Xpeng flying car is transported in the van’s cargo area, which also features a five-seat cabin. The vehicle is equipped with electric motors, an 800-volt battery, and a gasoline-powered generator. The total range on gasoline and electric power reaches 1,000 km, and charging the battery to 80% takes 18 minutes.
The specifications of the Xpeng flying car itself are still being kept under wraps. All that is known is that it is an unmanned, two-seater quadcopter capable of vertical takeoff and landing.

Production of the new Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier is scheduled to begin in 2026. The company plans to produce 10,000 of these “land-based aircraft carriers” annually.
