The world's fastest armored car has been built in the USA
This monster with over 1,200 horsepower will set its owner back nearly half a million dollars
The first thing that comes to mind when we think of an armored vehicle, it’s some kind of SUV with a machine gun or an extremely bulky black sedan that takes several years to reach 100 kilometers per hour (if it ever reaches that speed at all). But now, the U.S. Armor Group has unveiled the world’s fastest armored car, which completely shatters these stereotypes.
The car is based on the Lucid Air Sapphire. According to its creators, this electric car is designed to dispel “preconceptions about armored luxury.”
This electric car features an all-wheel-drive system with three motors, produces 1,234 horsepower, and accelerates to 100 in two seconds. Its top speed is 330 km/h, and it has a range of 687 kilometers on a single charge.
U.S. Armor Group builds upon this powerful foundation by adding lightweight ballistic windows capable of withstanding shots from a .44 Magnum. These are complemented by lightweight composite armor that is 10 times stronger than ballistic steel but five times lighter. Overall, the armor adds only 175 kilograms in weight. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of two passengers.
In addition to the armor, the vehicle was equipped with an “impenetrable Internet/Wi-Fi security package,” which promises to protect data from hacking. The company also stated that the model features advanced technology that continuously scans for nearby threats during transit, gathering information from over a million sources, including local police and fire department scanners.
Prices start at $475,000, which is nearly double the cost of the standard Air Sapphire. However, customers can add heavier armor to protect against grenades, explosive devices, and high-powered rifles. Customers can also channel their inner James Bond and opt for door handles with electric shocks, pepper spray dispensers, and hidden weapon compartments.
